Intel known for manufacturing the best processors and chips for desktop computer and laptops is not best in maintaining its secrecy. Before the launch of its new Quad-core Laptop chips their details were leaked in the market and made public.

HP and Dell spilled the details about the new quad-core laptop chips on their websites. HP posted the details of quad-core i7-840QM and i7-740QM processors on its website in the manual for the Envy 17 laptop whereas Dell posted the details of these chips with its Studio 15 laptop.

The 840QM processor runs at 1.86GHz and includes 8MB of cache. This processor includes Turbo Boost technology to ratchet up clock speed to 3.2 GHz which makes the applications to perform faster. The Core i7-740QM runs at a base clock speed of 1.73GHz, with the ability to go up to 2.93 GHz, and includes 6MB of cache. Both the processors will draw a power of 45 watts.

Intel introduced the dual-core i3, i5 and i7 laptop processors but it did not announce quad-core chips which are already use under the Core 2 Quad brand. These chips were made using the 45 nanometer process but now they are made by using 32 nanometer process. These new chips will be a part of Westmere microarchitecture which is a shrink of Intel’s existing Nehalem microarchitecture.

Well these new Quad-core laptop chips will really work much faster than the previous ones but where Intel failed is the part of maintaining the secrecy. The spokeswomen of Intel declined to give any comments about the processors and the chips.

This clearly shows that Apple is something better because it maintains the secrecy to the highest possible levels. People get curious about getting the detail of Apple’s new projects but no one gets to know them until they launch it.
